The Army Triathlon Inter-Unit And Individual Standard Distance Triathlon 2018 will be held on Wednesday 27 June 2018 commencing at 1110 hours at Cotswold Water Park, Lake 32. In addition to an Inter Corps category the REME will also use this race at their Corps Individual Championships. The race will be held on public roads and is a non-drafting event.
This standard distance triathlon will be conducted at Cotswold Water Park, Lake 32 and is open to all Regular / Reserve service personnel and entitled MoD civil service personnel. This event is open to all standards of athlete and units are encouraged to allow individuals and teams to take part in this multi-sport race.
The compulsory wetsuits swim will take place at Lake 32 with the appropriate water safety cover. The 1500m swim course will be set out in advance (GPS measured) using buoys as the turn points. The swim will have a split start; men first then 10 mins later the ladies will start.
This new 41km route on public roads and all athletes are to obey normal laws of the road at all times. Competitors should make note of the route which will be displayed in transition. Static and mobile draft busters will enforce British Triathlon Foundation (BTF) drafting rules. Approved cycle helmets are mandatory.
The 10km run is around the lake.
Army Major / Minor Unit Team Competition.
Units are encouraged to enter as many teams as possible. The team competition will be organised and based on the following categories:
a. Major Unit Teams. Five athletes with the first four to count.
b. Minor Unit Teams. Three athletes to count.
The prize giving ceremony will start once the results have been finalised by DB Max and the ATA Events Manager but no later than 1430 hours. All competitors are strongly encouraged to remain until the prize giving is complete. This prize giving will commence with the Army awards followed by the REME awards. Prizes will be awarded as follows so long as there are more than three athletes in each category:
Male Open. First, Second and Third.
Female Open. First, Second and Third.
Male Masters (over 40). First
Female Masters (over 35). First
Male Super Master (over 45). First
Female Super Masters (over 40). First
Major Unit. First
Minor Unit. First
REME Open. First, Second and Third.
(1) The entry fee is £21 per entrant this includes a £1 online admin fee. There is a dedicated Army link.
(2) Use of the online system is strongly encouraged, however last minute changes are inevitable and therefore entries on the day will be accepted. The entry fee covers the cost of the event, individual and team prizes. Online registration has been designed to be simple and secure – each entry has to be done individually so that timing chip numbers can be allocated.
(3) The online process has been streamlined but due to the huge amount of changes in unit names and some may not be listed. If your unit or cap badge is not listed in the drop down list you are to email email@example.com or add a comment to the Army Triathlon Association (Members) Facebook page. Once the unit has been created you will be emailed / replied to on Facebook.
b. On the day entry. Cheques are to be made to Army Triathlon Association the fee will be £25 per entrant. On the day entry close at 1030 hours.
Para-triathletes and Tri-Service athletes. The event will be open to all members of the Tri-Service community and the course will be adapted as necessary to ensure that all para-triathletes can race. Entry to this race by members of the other services is encouraged but it should be noted that members of the Royal Navy and RAF will not be eligible for prizes.
Registration. All competitors will need to register in the DB Max gazebo 0900 – 1030 hours in order to receive timing chips. On the day entries will need to visit the ATA Gazebo first in order to pay.

The race will be run in accordance with BTF rules . Bikes are to be in a road worthy condition and approved (ANSI / SNELL) cycle helmets must be worn for the entire cycle section. Draft busters will be in operation on the course and competitors will be penalised / disqualified in accordance with BTF guidelines.
The electronic timing system will be used to ensure accurate and timely results. All race details and results will appear on the DB Max events website and the ATA MOSS page, hard copies will NOT be available on race day, however, there will be individual timing print outs available.

Army Triathlon Association Membership.
Participants DO have to be members of the ATA to race as this race is traditionally billed as the Army Club Championship. Membership only costs £10 per year and all the details including benefits can be obtained from the ATA MOSS page or by speaking to membership secretary on the day. If you have entered on line but are not a member you will need to ensure your join at the ATA gazebo first before proceeding to the DB Max tent to collect your timing chip. The Army Standard Distance Triathlon Championships 2017 is open to Regular / Reserve service personnel, from all three Services and entitled MOD civil service personnel (who must take leave and show proof of third party liability insurance). However, only Army personnel will be eligible for prizes. Please be reminded that this event requires you to be a member of the Association to race.
