ARE YOU READY TO TAKE ON THE TITAN?

Summary

Titan Brecon Middle Distance Triathlon is back for 2023. Titan Brecon is now firmly established on the British middle distance triathlon calendar and will sell out quickly.

Titan

A superb venue in the Welsh Brecon Beacons, with a beautiful lake swim, an ‘epic’ bike course and a traffic-free park-based run.

The event is located at the beautiful Parc Bryn Bach on the edge of the Brecon Beacons in Wales, and is easily accessible from South Wales, Bristol, Birmingham, London and the South West. This all adds up to making Titan Brecon the ‘must do’ middle distance triathlon on the British events calendar.

Titan Brecon Middle Distance Triathlon starts with a 1.2 mile two-lap swim and takes place in the park lake, fed by the waters of the Black Mountains in Wales.

The 60-mile bike course has now built a following of fans and ‘epic’ is the word! The quiet roads have excellent riding surfaces and the route tours the beautiful Brecon Moors before culminating with a sustained climb back to T2.

The final 13.1 mile run is a three-lap route around the lake and park – so it’s great for spectators!

Cut Offs

There are no official cut offs for each section of Titan Brecon Middle Distance Triathlon, though we do expect competitors to be close to finishing within 8.5 hours. However, we take a common sense approach on this, and if you are close to completing you will be able to finish. If you are deemed to be a danger to yourself you will be asked to stop, or if you are taking significantly longer than we deem acceptable you again will be asked to stop. For more information on cut offs please email enquiries@dbmax.co.uk.

Equipment

There are 4 items you must bring with you to Titan Brecon. When you arrive at transition you must have the following:

  • A  working front light, attached to your bike (with fresh batteries)
  • A working rear light attached to your bike (with fresh batteries)
  • An item of reflective clothing (Yellow or bright clothing is not reflective, your item of clothing must be reflective).
  • A jacket to wear on the bike in case it is cold on race morning  (races have started in temperatures as low as 6 degrees).

The reason for these rules is due to the weather conditions that could be faced on race day. The Brecons very much have their own micro-climate, and even in the height of summer it can be cold, dark, wet and misty. There will be no exceptions made to these rules, and if you do not have these 4 items of equipment, you will not be permitted to race.

FAQ

How does transition work in a triathlon?

You have your own numbered spot in transition and you leave your bike here. When you exit the water in to transition following the swim, get to your bike and before touching it put your helmet on and do it up. Once you have done this you can un-rack your bike and run/walk to bike out. At bike out there will be a mount line (this will be signed and marshalled) and get on your bike. When you have completed your bike, come back to bike in (again this will be signed) and the dismount line, get off your bike and run/walk with your bike back to your spot. Once there, rack your bike and at this point you can unclip your helmet and take it off. From here you run/walk to run out to complete your run.

Transition will be well signed and marshalled. Please fell free to ask marshals for advice.

Can I wear headphones at a triathlon?
