The Officers’ Association Inter-Services Standard Distance Triathlon Championships 2016 are to be held on Wednesday 27th July 2016 commencing at 11:00 at Cotswold Water Park, Lake 32 .
The compulsory wetsuits swim will take place at Lake 32 with the appropriate water safety cover. The 1500m swim course will be set out in advance (GPS measured) using buoys as the turn points.
This new 41km route is on public roads and all athletes are to obey normal laws of the road at all times. Competitors should make note of the route which will be displayed in transition. Static and mobile draft busters will enforce normal triathlon drafting rules. Approved cycle helmets are mandatory.
The 10km run is three laps around the lake.
The prize giving ceremony will start once the results have been finalised by DB Max and the ATA Events Manager but no later than 15:00. All competitors are strongly encouraged to remain until the prize giving is completed. Prizes will be awarded as follows:
a. Male Open. First, Second and Third.
b. Female Open. First, Second and Third.
c. Male Veterans (over 40). First, Second and Third.
d. Female Veterans (over 35). First, Second and Third.
e. Male Team. Winner and Runner Up (8 to count).
f. Female Team. Winner and Runner Up (3 to count).
g. Male Veterans Team. Winner and Runner Up (4 to count).
h. Officers’ Association Fastest Male Officer. Winner.
i. Officers’ Association Fastest Female Officer. Winner.
j. Invited Guest Prizes:
(1) Male Guest Open. First, Second and Third.
(2) Female Guest Open. First, Second and Third.
a. General. Team Captains are requested to email the ATA Events Manager by COP 20 July 2016 with a completed team sheet. This will give DB Max sufficient time to upload the individual’s details and assign race numbers etc.
b. Payment. Cheques are to be made to Army Triathlon Association the fee will be £20 per entrant.
c. Team Changes. Team members can be changed as we all understand the current commitments programme. Changes are requested to be submitted to the ATA Events Manager in good time. On the day changes are to be done at registration.
Registration. All competitors will need to register in the DB Max gazebo 08:30 – 10:30 in order to receive timing chips.
- Venue Opens 08:00.
- Registration 08:30 – 10:30 at the DB Max gazebo.
- Race course open for recces 09:00.
- Transition open 09:00. You must register prior to entering transition.
- Mandatory race brief 10:45 adjacent to transition.
- Wave 1 Start 11:00.
- Wave 2 Start 11:20.
- Catering (BBQ) 13:45.
- Prize giving 14:15 – 14:30.
- Transition open for bike collection at 14:30. You must show your race number to collect your equipment.
The race will be run in accordance with current triathlon rules . Bikes are to be in a road worthy condition and approved (ANSI / SNELL) cycle helmets must be worn for the entire cycle section. Draft busters will be in operation on the course and competitors will be penalised / disqualified in accordance with current triathlon guidelines.
The electronic timing system will be used to ensure accurate and timely results. All race details and results will appear on the DB Max events website and the ATA MOSS page, hard copies will NOT be available on race day, however, there will be individual timing print outs available.
Travel at public expense is authorised. Team managers are to use the DIN as a reference on their respective admin orders. All details of individual athletes selected must be included and only those listed are entitled to travel at public expense. The Officers’ Association Inter-Services Standard Distance Triathlon Championships 2016 is a hard fought race every year. This race is restricted to the individual service teams, the emergency services and guest teams invited by the ATA – this is not an open event.
